How bike-friendly is Erlangen?
Stand: 02.09.2026
Starting September 1, 2026, cyclists can once again rate how bike-friendly their city is in the Bicycle Climate Test conducted by the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club (ADFC).
How much is already being done to promote cycling in Erlangen? What has improved in recent years? Are the bike paths in good condition? In short: Is cycling in Erlangen fun—or is it sometimes more of a hassle?
The 2026 Bicycle Climate Test focuses on the mobility of children and teenagers. A new addition is the Youth Bicycle Climate Survey, which specifically asks 10- to 20-year-olds about their cycling habits and experiences. In the Municipal Bicycle Climate Survey, local governments also have the opportunity to document their efforts to promote cycling. This provides a comprehensive picture of how bicycle-friendly German municipalities are.
The city of Erlangen invites all cyclists to participate in the survey. The experiences of local residents are important: the more Erlangen residents who participate, the more meaningful the results will be for Erlangen. The results help transportation planners and policymakers identify strengths and weaknesses, compare Erlangen with other cities, and develop targeted measures to improve cycling conditions.
Participation in the ADFC 2026 Bicycle Climate Survey is free, anonymous, and takes only a few minutes. The survey can be completed online at: https://fkt.adfc.de/befragung
The results of the three surveys will be published in the spring of 2027.
