Cycling has a long tradition in Erlangen. In the beginning, enthusiasts of this new mode of transportation gathered in clubs.
How bike-friendly is Erlangen?
Starting September 1, 2026, cyclists can once again rate how bike-friendly their city is as part of the Bicycle Climate Test conducted by the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club (ADFC). The survey is available online through November 30.
Promotion of cargo bikes
Due to the budgetary situation, there are currently no plans to provide funding for cargo bikes.
Rent a VAG bike
There are new “VAG_Rad” stations. This citywide initiative is designed to make it even easier to switch to biking and to transfer between different modes of transportation.
