Change to the municipal boundary at Tennenlohe
Stand: 27.01.2025
Shifting the city boundary essentially serves to simplify administrative procedures for the construction of facilities for the Stadt-Umland-Bahn.
At its January meeting, the city council approved a change to Erlangen's municipal boundary in the south of the city. An unsettled area with a total area of 21,613 square meters (Tennenlohe district) will be transferred to the city of Nuremberg.
This boundary change is necessary in order to place the areas for the planned "Reutleser Straße" stop in the area of the planned route of the Stadt-Umland-Bahn (StUB) south of the A3 highway and west of the B4 federal highway (in the area of the Tennenlohe highway exit) in connection with a turning loop of the StUB as well as a park-and-ride facility on the city territory of Nuremberg as a whole. This area is also the end point of the first planning approval section of the StUB, which will then be located on Nuremberg territory as a whole. The government of Middle Franconia pointed out at an early stage that the high-rise buildings of such a system should not be divided by a city boundary. In such a case, it recommended that the city boundary be corrected accordingly in good time before the approval procedures.
The arguments for this change are clear:
- The proposed "Reutleser Straße" stop, which is cut by the previous course of the city boundary, serves the Nuremberg districts of Reutles and Großgründlach.
- The highway has a high separating effect of the area towards the core city of Erlangen as well as the district of Tennenlohe located north of the A3 highway.
- The turning loop is part of planning approval section 1a of the StUB, which only includes the route within Nuremberg city limits. If the planned turning loop with park-and-ride facility and stop is also located entirely in Nuremberg, the necessary procedure will be streamlined.
The owners affected by the measure were consulted by the City of Erlangen. The building obligation for the affected part of Reutleser Weg (approx. 130 m) as a public field and forest path is transferred to the City of Nuremberg. The municipal boundary change will only take final effect with the approval of the government of Middle Franconia.
