Erlangen gets on its bike" campaign: Bicycles for children
Stand: 28.05.2024
In cooperation with the "Bike" employment project of the Erlangen Job Center (EJC), the city of Erlangen provides every child with an ErlangenPass with a bicycle. The aim is to promote the children's mobility. The bikes are carefully refurbished by the Café Hergricht (EJC) bicycle workshop.
There is also a new bicycle helmet and a bicycle lock. A one-off fee of €20.00 is charged for this. All children with an ErlangenPass who are currently still in the 3rd grade and will change to the 4th grade in the new school year are entitled to collect their bikes. The same applies to children in the 4th grade who have either already obtained their bicycle license or have yet to take their bicycle test. Also all children in higher grades who have passed the bicycle test in the last two years. The relevant proof (ErlangenPass/bicycle license) must be presented when collecting the bike.
An appointment must be made in advance to purchase a bike. Either by e-mail kinderfahrrad@stadt.erlangen.de or by telephone on 09131/86-4221. The bikes are handed out in the EJC's lost and found bike office at Alfred-Wegener-Straße 11.
All bikes can be viewed and test ridden beforehand. For safety reasons, a parent or guardian must be present and a helmet will be provided for a test ride.
In view of the successful implementation, the project will continue until 2026.
We are happy to accept bicycle donations and children's bicycles that are no longer needed.
