Actively shaping social cohesion in Erlangen
The explanatory statement reads: "As one of the most efficient adult education institutions in Bavaria, the municipal adult education center stands for lifelong learning in all its diversity. With over 1,400 courses per semester and up to 45,000 bookings per year, it reaches people in all phases of life - close to life, effective and deeply rooted in the city's society. Its approach to education goes far beyond the traditional course business: with innovative formats, a strong commitment to 17 Erlangen schools and sustainable engagement, the vhs actively shapes social cohesion in Erlangen - and shows how public education is creating the future today."
Thanks to the consistent digitalization of central processes, the vhs is able to reliably organize a wide range of educational offers with lean structures. "With innovative and sustainable formats, such as the CO₂-neutral vhs reading café, the vhs creates high visibility and broad recognition among its target groups."
"Bronze medal is both motivation and incentive"
vhs Director Markus Bassenhorst accepted the award and the medal at the ceremony in the Berliner Meistersaal: "It was a special experience to receive the award. I was delighted that our work was so highly regarded and it encouraged me to continue on this path. The bronze medal is both a motivation and an incentive for our excellent vhs team to bring education to everyone in Erlangen."
The twelve honorees also include other Bavarian institutions and companies such as Hotel Schindlerhof in Nuremberg (gold), ZMT Automotive GmbH & Co. KG in the Upper Palatinate (silver) and GKG gemeinnützige Krankenhausgesellschaft Landkreis Bamberg (bronze).
