Bavarian climate protection award for "CO2 Challenge"
Stand: 21.11.2024
The challenge is intended to reflect action and reduce our own carbon dioxide emissions.
On November 12, Bavaria's Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber honored this year's winners of the Bavarian Climate Protection Award for special services to climate protection. Among them: the "CO2 Challenge". It was proposed by the initiative group of climate protection managers in the Nuremberg metropolitan region - including the employees of the City of Erlangen's Office for Environmental Protection and Energy Issues.
The "CO2 Challenge" and the "CO2 School Challenge" take place annually. They are intended to motivate the local population in a low-threshold and playful way to reflect on their actions and reduce their own carbon dioxide emissions.
The Bavarian state government awards the prize in recognition of special commitment to protecting the climate or adapting to the effects of climate change. The prize, which is anchored in the Bavarian Climate Protection Act, is endowed with a total of 15,000 euros. It was awarded for the fourth time this year.
