Bergkirchweih: No parking zone for e-scooters
Stand: 28.05.2025
The parking ban applies from June 5 to 16 inclusive for the city center and the Burgberg. Three parking zones have been set up at the edge of the ban zone.
The mountain is calling: On Thursday, June 5, the first beer barrel of the 270th Erlangen Bergkirchweih will be tapped in front of the Henninger-Keller by Mayor Florian Janik. The festival is then officially opened. Until June 16, historic beer cellars and almost 90 fairground rides and amusement rides as well as snack and confectionery stands will attract visitors to the north of the city. For those who use e-scooters, it is important to know that there is a ban on parking e-scooters in the city center and on the Burgberg.
When and where does the parking ban apply?
From June 5 to 16 inclusive, there will be a parking ban for sharing e-scooters in the city center and on the Burgberg. During this period, it is not possible to park or borrow vehicles there due to technical means on the part of the providers. The perimeter of the parking ban zone can be found on a map(www.erlangen.de/e-scooter). The providers will remove all electric scooters from the area in advance.
All users are also required not to obstruct or endanger other road users when driving or parking their electric scooters. The e-scooter providers set up in-app notifications about the no-parking zone and the applicable regulations. In addition, providers are encouraged to integrate reaction tests during the Bergkirchweih period.
Why are there no-parking zones?
To ensure safety and prevent accidents and drunk driving during the Bergkirchweih, a large no-parking zone for sharing e-scooters will be set up. In consultation with the providers, a joint concept was developed in recent years that takes into account the requirements of the police. Since the feedback on the handling of sharing e-scooters during the Bergkirchweih since 2022 has been consistently positive, this will be maintained.
Where can e-scooters be parked?
Three parking zones have been set up at the edge of the prohibited zone. These include
- the Mobilpunkt at the large parking lot
- the Mozartstraße mobile point and
- the Zollhausplatz.
These are regularly checked by the providers so that there is sufficient space available for users.
Side note: What are the alcohol limits?
As e-scooters are motor vehicles, the same regulations apply with regard to alcohol and drugs as when driving a car. For example, the alcohol limit for people up to the age of 21 and new drivers in the probationary period (regardless of age) is 0.00 per mille blood alcohol concentration. In the event of violations of the legal provisions (Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) or the Ordinance on Small Electric Vehicles (eKFV), these will be punished in accordance with the applicable laws.
To enable the Bergkirchweih to be set up smoothly, a no-parking zone has already been designated in the area of the Bergkirchweih grounds (Bergstraße, An den Kellern and Schützenweg) for several days, so that there are no obstructions for hosts and showmen.
