Mayor Jörg Volleth in Rennes
Stand: 05.11.2024
Visit to the twin town to mark the 60th anniversary of the partnership
From October 20 to 22, 2024, Mayor Jörg Volleth visited the French twin city. He was following an invitation from the Mayor of Rennes to mark the 60th anniversary of the town twinning. The program included visits to various cultural institutions and urban development projects as well as the vernissage of the exhibition "Show me your city!". With the establishment of the town twinning on 27.05.1964, Erlangen and Rennes reaffirmed their desire to bring the two nations closer together and thus - like many other municipalities - implemented the idea of the Élysée Treaty signed just under a year earlier at local level. At their meeting, Mayor Volleth and his Rennais counterpart Marc Hervé (first mayor of Rennes) emphasized the long-standing and trusting cooperation between the two cities and the importance of Franco-German relations in Europe. Mayor Volleth was accompanied on his visit by the Franco-German Institute Erlangen, among others.
