Local elections are on March 8. This is when the Lord Mayor and the City Council will be elected. Postal voting documents will be issued from February 16. Here you can find all the information about postal voting, especially the deadlines.
Voting notifications are currently being sent out. Anyone who does not wish to go to the polling station on election day can apply for a postal vote in writing together with the election notification. Alternatively, postal voting documents can be requested online. The deadline for written and online applications is Monday, March 2.

Postal voting documents from February 16 - voting also possible at the town hall
The mailing of postal voting documents will begin on Monday, February 16. In addition, the documents can be collected in person from Monday, February 16 at the town hall in the small meeting room (1st floor). You can also vote there straight away. Please bring your polling card with you. Personal collection and voting is possible until Friday, March 6, 3:00 pm.
The electoral office is open for issuing postal voting documents and for voting by post:
- Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Friday, March 6, until 3:00 p.m.).
Collection is also possible on
- Saturday, February 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Friday, March 6, until 3:00 pm.
Due to the short deadlines and postal delivery times, the electoral office recommends collecting postal voting documents in person if possible.
Deadlines for the application for postal voting
- online via the homepage of the City of Erlangen: from February 2 to March 2
- via the QR code on the election notification: from February 2 to March 2
- in writing as an absentee ballot application on the back of the election notification: from February 2 to March 2
- by post or fax as a message to the electoral office: from February 2 to March 2
- in person at the town hall (1st floor, small meeting room) with ID/passport: from February 16 to March 6, 3:00 p.m.
- have the postal voting documents collected by a third party with power of attorney via the lower part of the postal voting application form: from February 16 to March 6, 15:00.
Deadlines for submitting postal voting documents
The completed postal voting documents must be received in the letterbox at the town hall by 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 8 at the latest. If sent by post, they should be deposited in a Deutsche Post letterbox by noon on Thursday, March 5 at the latest.

Electoral Office
The electoral office is set up temporarily around six months before general votes (referendums and plebiscites) and elections (local, district, state and European elections). Responsible for the overall implementation - e.g. electoral roll, polling stations, polling assistants, voter notification, postal voting and more.
