Dechsendorf community bus

Good news for the citizens of Dechsendorf: in future, a vehicle from the neighboring municipality of Heßdorf can be used for the community bus. A reliable solution is therefore expected to be available from May to secure the important local mobility service in the long term.

Service for people without their own vehicle

The Dechsendorf community bus is aimed in particular at older people and people in need who do not have their own vehicle. The bus, which is driven by dedicated volunteers, runs regularly every Tuesday morning to the Heßdor industrial estate. It enables passengers to run important errands, visit the doctor and carry out banking transactions independently. Thanks to generous donations, use of the citizens' bus can continue to be offered free of charge. For example

• the Erlangen Community Foundation
• the Dechsendorf pharmacy and
• the Raiffeisenbank Dreifranken

have pledged donations. Further donations are in prospect.

Reliable solution

"The local advisory council had asked the town council to find a reliable solution together with the municipality of Heßdorf. I am very pleased that this has now been achieved," explains local council chairwoman Tanja Amon. Lord Mayor Florian Janik emphasizes: "Thanks to the constructive cooperation with the municipality of Heßdorf, a viable agreement has now been reached. The community bus will maintain an important piece of mobility and participation for the people of Dechsendorf. I would like to thank the volunteer drivers for their tireless efforts and all the donors who support this service."
