The Foreigners' and Integration Advisory Council condemns the violence against demonstrators in Iran
A few weeks ago, the Iranian morality police arrested a woman who was not wearing the hijab prescribed by the government. The arrest led to the death of #MahsaAmini.
This tragic incident aroused the anger of the Iranian people. To support the women's movement, many people, supported by universities and students, started a protest rally. Unfortunately, the government arrested many of them. There were bloody clashes, including between the police and students at Sharif University, where the Iranian elite study.
Half of the Iranian population is made up of women. They are denied their basic rights. One of these rights is personal choice of clothing. Women in Iran are forced to wear headscarves and long dresses. Everyone should be able to live in freedom - regardless of their gender, where they live or the religion they believe in. We condemn the brutal oppression and violence against the population. We stand with the Iranian people in this freedom movement.
We condemn all forms of violence and oppression and support the people of Iran who are demonstrating for their human rights and dignity.
We ask all freedom-loving people in the world to support the Iranian people. We condemn such behavior towards the Iranian people. So we all stand together with the Iranian in our hearts and say with one voice:
"Woman, Life, Freedom",
"زن، زندگی، آزادی"،
"Women, Life, Freedom"
