Big Commitment Day IN ACTION

On Engagement Day, corporate teams in non-profit organizations become active for a day and help to implement urgently needed projects with their commitment.

Türen öffnen (a project of the Institute for Social and Cultural Work, iska gGmbH for short) from Nuremberg organized this day of action with the support of the city's Office for Citizen Participation and Volunteering and financial support from Siemens AG.

Actions at 14 locations

Volunteers from seven companies took action at 14 locations in Erlangen: at the ASB clothing café in Hartmannstraße, volunteers and store assistants worked together to change the product range from spring to summer. On a meadow orchard in Atzelsberg, a team lent a hand, watered trees and applied browsing protection so that the grazing sheep do not cause lasting damage to the young trees. In two Malteser and Diakoneo retirement homes, small improvements were made to the outside and inside areas. The residents can now enjoy fresh plants and a renewed barefoot path. Two playgrounds were embellished and repairs were carried out at the Kolping Family in Büchenbach. But trainees from the Stadt- und Kreissparkasse also took care of damaged city trees in the city center under supervision. Under the heading "Encounter", a company team accompanied a May celebration of the Diakonie day care center and the neighborhood festival of the social institutions in Schillerstraße with a visit from Lord Mayor Janik was made possible. The closing ceremony was hosted by Siemens AG in its library, where the focus was on networking and exchange between projects and company teams and the successes of the day were celebrated with a photo gallery and catering.

All sides benefit

This engagement day gives companies an insight into the work of social and ecological organizations - so both sides benefit from the perspective of the other team. In the best case scenario, the corporate team and the charitable organization will stay in contact after the day of action and further partnership days will be created.
