Modular building extension for Emmy-Noether-Gymnasium
Stand: 15.04.2025
Science rooms (chemistry) and five classrooms should be ready for use by the start of the school year in September 2027. They will be built in modular construction
With its decision on March 27, the city council gave the "green light" for further planning.
New building is energy-optimized
The extension in the north-eastern part of the school grounds (on the access road) is to be built from prefabricated modules (timber and steel construction), which will be assembled on site. In addition to faster implementation, this will mean less disruption to school operations. Extensive greening as a retention roof and a photovoltaic system are planned for the roof. The new building is energy-optimized.
The currently estimated total costs, including furnishings, amount to around 5.9 million euros, less subsidies and grants of 1.8 to 2.5 million euros.
Sustainable solution
In March 2024, the city council decided to implement a needs-based coverage of space requirements at Erlangen's secondary schools in two stages. After consultation with state authorities, Emmy-Noether-Gymnasium is to be run as a 4.5-stream grammar school with 40 classes and around 1,000 pupils (on average) in future in order to cover the city-wide deficit with appropriate construction measures. In November, it was decided to build a two-storey extension in modular construction instead of the originally planned temporary solution. This variant is more sustainable and also more economical thanks to better funding opportunities.
