Message from the Mayor

Dear Sir or Madam,
Dear visitors,

A vibrant downtown thrives on encounters—on people coming together, shopping together, and sharing special moments. During the Advent season, this sense of community is especially palpable in Erlangen: when the Forest Christmas transforms Schloßplatz into a festive gathering place and our downtown invites visitors to enjoy a pre-Christmas stroll.

For many people, the Waldweihnacht is an integral part of the Advent season. Lovingly crafted handmade items, unique gift ideas, and culinary delights make a visit a special experience.

At the same time, the Advent season offers a wonderful opportunity to experience our diverse downtown and support local retailers. After all, thriving businesses, dedicated shopkeepers, and attractive offerings play a crucial role in keeping our downtown vibrant and diverse.

There’s also plenty for children to discover at the Forest Christmas Market: the carousel is spinning, the little elves invite you to go on a scavenger hunt, and at the “Tree of Elves,” we can fulfill wishes together and spread joy.

I cordially invite you to enjoy the special atmosphere of the Advent season in Erlangen, visit our Forest Christmas, and discover the diversity of our downtown.

I wish you, your families, and your friends a joyful and peaceful Christmas season, as well as happiness, good health, and optimism for the coming year.

Yours, Jörg Volleth
Mayor
