The sewer network in the city has been undergoing renovation since June 2025. The plan is to complete this city-wide construction project with around 70 pipe liner renovations and around 70 partial repairs by June 30, 2026. The work was scheduled to be completed by March 31, 2026, but had to be postponed for various reasons. The residents affected will be informed of the exact timeframe by the municipal drainage company and the construction company carrying out the work in good time by letter and leaflet.

Rarely major traffic obstructions

In order to ensure a smooth and speedy construction process and thus keep the restrictions for residents as low as possible, road sections will be closed in sections. There may therefore be traffic disruptions during the construction period and in the detour roads affected. As a rule, however, these will be short-lived. The work can often be carried out within five to ten hours per paving section. However, it should be noted that more extensive traffic safety measures are only necessary for the actual pipe liner rehabilitation (main work) and that this is associated with traffic restrictions.

What is trenchless sewer rehabilitation?

In contrast to a sewer replacement, for example, it involves several work steps. These include preparatory work, main work, follow-up work and acceptance inspection. These take place independently of each other (one after the other) and can be carried out one or two months apart. A single installation stage is not actually considered complete until the acceptance inspections have been completed and any subsequent remedial work has been carried out. As a rule, the preparatory and follow-up work rarely causes major traffic disruptions. This is because smaller vehicles are used.
