At the city council meeting on March 21, improvements and cuts to investment measures were decided.
At its March meeting (external link), the city council approved an amended budget statute for 2024. The government of Middle Franconia had already reviewed the figures adopted in January. It informed the city that it would not be able to approve the budget due to a gap of 32.8 million euros in the financial plan up to 2027.
The city treasury has now proposed corresponding cuts to investment measures. The only measures that have been addressed are

In the 2024 financial plan, payments from investment activities were reduced by 29.5 million euros. Furthermore, investment payments in the financial plan years 2025 to 2027 will be reduced by postponing measures with a total volume of EUR 3.5 million. Funds for land acquisition, the Siemens Campus bicycle parking facility and for further implementation steps in the general refurbishment of the Heinrich-Lades-Halle will be omitted. As a result, investment payments in the financial planning period 2023 to 2027 will nevertheless remain at a high level at a total of 379.5 million euros.

The city's medium-term financial plan assumes very high funding shortfalls for the years 2024 to 2027. This amounts to a total of over 250 million euros.
