Herzogenauracher Damm

Stand: 17.02.2026

In planning: Construction of a footpath and cycle path alongside the road by the Nuremberg State Building Authority.

The Nuremberg State Building Authority intends to construct a footpath and cycle path alongside the road on the Herzogenauracher Damm along the St 2244 state road between Erlangen-Bruck and the junction at Erlangen-Schallershof.

Where is it to be built?

The approximately 600-metre-long measure, which is part of both the last cycle path construction program and the expansion plan currently being drawn up for cycle paths on state roads, is to be built

  • start west of the Regnitzbrücke bridge near Erlangen-Bruck,
  • follow the state road on the north side and
  • end west of the junction at Erlangen-Schallershof.

A continuation of the footpath and cycle path to Kraftwerkstraße and over the Main-Danube canal bridge to the traffic circle at the Hutacker industrial estate is already being planned and prepared. The flood bridges in the Regnitzgrund area are also to be renewed as part of the project.

Why is it being built?

The measure is intended to improve local traffic conditions

  • improved, traffic
  • increase road safety and
  • close the gap in the cycle path network between Erlangen-Bruck and Erlangen-Frauenaurach or Herzogenaurach.

Furthermore, it is intended to create the possibility for cyclists to pass the Regnitzgrund even during the flood period. The Nuremberg State Building Authority is responsible for the project and construction of the entire measure.

The cycle path is being planned in close cooperation and coordination with the city of Erlangen, whose 2030 transport development and mobility plan also attaches great importance to the project as a designated priority cycle route.

Due to the early stage of planning, it is not yet possible to make any concrete statements about planning parameters or the timetable. The Nuremberg State Building Authority asks for your understanding in this regard.
