Children aged 1-6 years are cared for at the Kinderhaus Stadtinsel. The facility has space for a total of 87 children. Of these, 75 are kindergarten places and 12 are crèche places. There are up to 5 integrative places in the Kinderhaus.
The children's home is located in the city center, right next to the botanical garden of the city of Erlangen and is part of the catchment area of Loschge elementary school.
The groups work together across groups in a partially open concept. Children from different nations live, play and learn in our kindergarten. This gives us the opportunity to learn a lot from each other and gives us an insight into the traditions of other cultures. The building was newly constructed in 2012 and is located in the center of Erlangen. This offers the opportunity to make excursions to the botanical garden, to the weekly market or by bus and train.
The house has 2 floors
- On the first floor there is a kindergarten group and a crèche group, a garden with two sandpits, slide, swing and climbing frame, as well as the gym and rest room and the office
- On the second floor there are two further kindergarten groups and the staff room. A roof terrace is available to the children and staff.

- The focus is on the child, who is an independent and individual personality from birth. We embrace their strengths, needs and abilities and support them so that they can meet the demands of society later on.
- Children are curious, keen to experiment, creative, inquisitive, sociable, enthusiastic and competent by nature. They actively shape the educational process at their own pace.
- Security, joie de vivre and extensive light-heartedness
- Educators as directors of the educational process
- Provide living spaces to ground the constant learning processes. Accompanied by a close dialog between all those involved: child, educator and family, extended by the team and provider.
