Aid packages for Brovary

These days, a transport with relief supplies departed from Jena, Erlangen's twin city in Thuringia, to the joint Ukrainian solidarity partner city of Brovary and arrived on Friday, February 13. The shipment includes rehabilitation beds and bedside tables for the central hospital in Brovary. Due to the increase in the number of war veterans, among other things, this support to improve medical care is also urgently needed in our Ukrainian partner municipality. Brovary's mayor Igor Sapozhko expresses his sincere gratitude on Facebook for the constant help and solidarity with the people in Ukraine and posts photos of the arrival of the fully loaded truck.

Cooperation with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)

The aid packages are being procured and financed by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) as part of the "Improving Civil Protection and Reconstruction in Municipal Partnerships with Ukraine" program. The aid packages were selected after coordinating the needs with the Ukrainian partners. Both the city of Jena and the city of Erlangen will each receive a package with rehabilitation equipment and a minibus with a wheelchair ramp for Brovary. The German municipalities are committed to organizing and paying for the onward transport of the aid supplies to their Ukrainian partner municipality.

Transportation of further aid supplies from the ongoing project to follow

As Jena and Erlangen maintain a triangular partnership with Brovary, the transport of the relief supplies procured by GIZ will be organized and carried out together. A second part of the rehabilitation equipment is expected to be delivered to the German municipalities in March and then taken to Brovary. The minibuses are due to arrive in Jena in the coming weeks and preparations are being made for their prompt transfer to Brovary.
