You can register your child for daycare via the Kitafinder portal: kitafinder.erlangen.de

Please do not enter the zip code in the search mask of the Kitafinder portal. You can then select "Central registration: Specialist child day care service". We will then receive your childcare request.

If we have a place available that matches your application, we will send you the childminder's contact details to arrange a personal meeting.

After getting to know each other, both parties will decide whether childcare should be arranged at this childminder's home.

If necessary, you will receive a new placement proposal or have to wait until a suitable place becomes available.

Information on parental contributions in child day care

The financial settlement is handled by the Erlangen City Youth Welfare Office. You can apply for a fee reduction if you are on a low income

If your childminder is unavailable, the substitute childminder in the specialist day care service can step in.

In addition to nursery teachers and nannies, people from other professional fields also work as childminders. They are qualified in special courses by the specialist child day care service.

• Anyone wishing to start as a childminder must take part in our basic course of 85 hours. This also includes work shadowing with a childminder and in a crèche.
• After the aptitude test, we issue a care permit.
• This is followed by the advanced course of 215 hours.
• After completing the qualification courses, the childminders continue their training, at least 15 hours per year, but usually significantly more.

• The childminder who is actually looking after your child is not working that day.
• You are unable to secure care elsewhere.
• Your child has been with the childminder for at least 3 months and has settled in well.
• Your child is also settled in the alternative care.
• There is still sufficient capacity on these days.

There are 3 building blocks for settling in to substitute care:

• Module 1 - The parents
  After consultation with the responsible nursery teachers, you will be invited to playgroups with your child. This gives your child the opportunity to see the rooms and the teachers regularly and to establish and maintain contact.
• Building block 2 - The childminder
  The childminder comes regularly to the playgroup at the specialist service with their child(ren) during normal childcare hours. These meetings are accompanied by the responsible childminder.
• Module 3 - The childminders
  The nursery teachers make regular home visits to the childminders in order to experience the children in their familiar surroundings and get to know their daily routine.

If everyone helps together, the settling-in process works!

Children who are not settled in cannot be looked after.

Places in the substitute care are limited. In individual cases - especially during vacation periods or if several childminders are ill at the same time - it may not be possible to accept your child. We then allocate places according to social urgency.

Please coordinate your vacation times with those of the childminder in advance as far as possible. However, if alternative care is necessary, parents should contact the responsible childminder in good time to organize alternative care for their child.
