Funding is available
Funding totaling 815,000 euros is now available for the planning of the metropolitan cycle path. The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs is providing 694,000 euros, while the Bavarian State Ministry for Housing, Construction and Transport is contributing 121,000 euros. This reduces the participating municipalities' own contribution to just 10 percent of the planning costs.
Planning in full swing
Following completion of the first project phase, in which a preferred route was defined and quality standards established, the specialist offices are now starting the design and approval planning. Implementation is being carried out in close cooperation with 13 municipalities and three districts. The Europe-wide invitation to tender for the planning services is scheduled for 2025. The specialist planning should be completed by 2027.
The cycle path in Erlangen
In the city of Erlangen, the metropolitan cycle path runs largely
- along the Europa Canal
- via Frauenauracher Straße and
- south of the "Am Hafen" area
directly to the Main-Danube Canal. Erlangen has already realized important parts of the cycle path with the environmental lanes along the Europakanal.
