Your Responsibilities:
- Responsible leadership, development, and personnel management of the Press and Public Relations department, which currently has 6 employees
- Citywide coordination of press and public relations work, as well as the overarching development and implementation of communication formats and strategies
- Overall editorial responsibility for the cross-media editorial team, including writing content and managing imagery for the city’s website and central social media channels
- Press relations, particularly drafting press releases and producing photographs, as well as planning, organizing, and conducting press conferences, press briefings, and other media events for the city administration
- Cross-media consulting for city departments, as well as handling and coordinating external media inquiries
- Special tasks such as speeches, welcoming remarks, and event planning (e.g., open house), as well as participation in the tasks of the Civil Protection Management Group (FÜGK) and the development of strategies and concepts for crisis communication
Your Profile:
- A completed college degree (Bachelor’s, Diplom [FH or Univ.], or Master’s) in (online) journalism, journalism and strategic communication, public relations / Public Relations, Political Communication, or in the fields of Media Management and Media Communication, Communication Sciences, or Marketing with a focus on public relations, or a comparable degree program with relevant coursework in the aforementioned areas
- Several years of professional experience in press and public relations, preferably in the public sector or a comparable field
- Leadership experience and a strong understanding of leadership are advantageous
- Experience in communicating administrative actions and crisis situations, as well as in dealing with political bodies and municipal structures, is desirable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a high level of commitment, team spirit, and flexibility
- Willingness to attend meetings and events, including those outside regular business hours
