Donations from Erlangen Help Brovary

New Generator Ensures Key Administrative Services

The solidarity shown by the citizens of Erlangen is having a tangible impact in Erlangen’s Ukrainian sister city, Brovary. Last winter, a total of 12,000 euros was donated to the Ukrainian city near the capital, Kyiv. This was in response to intensified Russian attacks on the country’s critical infrastructure, which repeatedly led to power outages in Brovary and resulting disruptions to heating and water supplies.

The donations have now made it possible to purchase a much-needed generator. However, due to legal requirements and high demand in Ukraine, the procurement process was delayed for several months. In May, the generator finally arrived at the Center for Administrative Services (CNAP) in Brovary.

The CNAP serves as a central hub for thousands of citizens, including many internally displaced persons. It provides essential government services, coordinates social support programs, and issues necessary documents. The new generator is intended to ensure that these tasks can be reliably carried out even during power outages, thereby making an important contribution to the stability of public life in Brovary.

Mayor Ihor Sapozhko thanked all donors from Erlangen for their support. He said that this tangible solidarity gives the people of Brovary strength and confidence in difficult times.

Support for the Partner School: School Cafeteria Modernized

The students of the Marie-Therese-Gymnasium (MTG) also made a valuable contribution through their dedication. A fundraiser organized by the Student Council (SMV) raised 1,700 euros for the MTG’s partner school, Lyceum N11 in Brovary.

The donations made it possible to install a food waste disposer in the school cafeteria. Principal Iryna Tkachuk wrote in her thank-you letter to Armin Kolb, principal of the MTG, that this was not only a technical upgrade but also an important step toward greater environmental awareness within the school community.

A Sign of Solidarity

These two projects illustrate how diverse and effective the support from Erlangen is in Brovary. Whether it’s ensuring important administrative services or modernizing a school—the donations make a tangible contribution to the quality of life for local residents and strengthen the partnership and bond between the two cities.

Donations for Brovary are collected on an ongoing basis and used for humanitarian aid and for projects involving children and young people from Brovary.
