Playrooms

Playrooms are daycare facilities for children with an increased need for education, care and upbringing. They accompany and support families with their socio-educational work. The age range begins with kindergarten age and ends when the child starts school.

Playrooms are located in districts with special social development needs and high stress factors. They are therefore located in the children's immediate living environment. They represent a preventative offer for families from high-risk living conditions.

Intensive support for the children is made possible by working in small groups and is ensured by the staffing and specialist equipment. Each group consists of a maximum of 16 children.

Pedagogical specialists work in the playrooms. They take a systemic view of the family and the child's living environment. They approach the circumstances and spontaneously changing situations of families in an open, professional and supportive manner.

Playrooms offer up to four places per group for the individual integration of children who are at risk of a possible disability. Approval for integration assistance is granted by the district of Middle Franconia.

Learning rooms

Lernstuben run by the Erlangen City Youth Welfare Office provide individual developmental and educational support up to school graduation. Just like after-school care centers, they are day facilities for school children, divided into primary school learning rooms (grades 1-4) and youth learning rooms (grades 5-10).

The Lernstuben accompany the children in their development and education - precisely tailored to their individual strengths and talents. Because every child is different.
That is why there are also integrative places in the Lernstube. A remedial teacher, a motor therapist or other specialist services can help with integration into the group.
The educational specialists at the Lernstube support and assist parents with day-to-day educational issues. They are on hand to offer advice in the event of particular challenges.

Primary school learning rooms

The primary school learning rooms run by the Erlangen City Youth Welfare Office are daycare facilities for children of school age with special educational needs. They are located in districts with special social development needs and high stress factors. This means that they are located in the children's immediate living environment. They work in small groups with a maximum of 16 children. Each group of 5 to 6 children is looked after by a pedagogical specialist as a caregiver.

As a low-threshold service, they offer more intensive support to children in their personal and/or family situation. In three elementary school facilities in the districts of Anger, Bruck and Büchenbach, children can receive a curative day care place if required.

Youth learning centers

The target group and mission of the youth learning centers are comparable to the primary school learning centers. They are also located in districts with special social development needs and high stress factors. This means that they are located in the young people's immediate living environment.

As a low-threshold service, they offer young people intensive support in their personal and/or family situation. The special feature of the Jugendlernstuben, however, is that the facilities start from the 5th grade. The young people can be looked after in the Lernstube until they finish school, but at most until they reach the age of 18.

The aim of the youth learning rooms is to accompany young people on their way to adulthood. In addition, the educational staff also provide support in the search for internships and apprenticeships, as well as in the preparation for leaving school.

To reserve a place in a playroom or learning center

The new central daycare registration portal "Kitafinder" will soon be launched for registration in a daycare center and in child daycare in the city of Erlangen. You can find more information about the Kitafinder at erlangen.de/kitafinder.

Registration for the municipal daycare centers is currently not possible due to the preparations for the Kitafinder. We ask for your understanding.

From the end of June, you will be able to register your child at a municipal daycare center via the Kitafinder. Registration for the vast majority of daycare facilities run by independent providers (including church and private crèches, kindergartens and after-school care centers) will then also take place via the Kitafinder portal.
