City welcomes new pedagogical trainees

Stand: 03.09.2024

30 new trainees and interns for the profession of nursery teacher were warmly welcomed by the City Youth Welfare Office.

On August 29, 2024, Marcus Redel, Head of the Personnel Office, and those responsible at the City Youth Welfare Office welcomed the city's new pedagogical trainees in the Great Hall of the Heinrich-Lades-Halle.

On September 1, 2024, a total of 30 trainees (m/f/d) and interns for the profession of educator will begin their service with the city of Erlangen, 21 of them women and 9 men.

There are now many different ways to become an educator. New training paths have also been created to counter the shortage of skilled staff. For example, the four-year training form of practice-integrated educator training (PiA) enables young people to start training to become educators directly after completing their secondary school leaving certificate. As a result, there is now great diversity in terms of when and with which school-leaving qualification the profession of educator is chosen. Some start their training directly after leaving school (intermediate school leaving certificate, vocational baccalaureate or Abitur), while others have already studied, completed training and in some cases gained many years of professional and life experience.

But despite different approaches and forms of training, all newcomers have one thing in common: they have made a conscious decision to become a childcare worker in order to accompany, support and encourage children - and thus actively help shape the future of children and their families.

A warm welcome!
