Städt. Integrative Youth Learning Center Am Anger 32
Stand: 13.12.2024
The Integrative Youth Learning Center is a daycare facility for children of primary and secondary school age (from 10 years). The municipal learning rooms offer children and young people and their families holistic education, individual support and integration as well as advice on special challenges and questions.
The Jugendlernstube at Anger 32 offers space for a total of 36 children and young people. Of these, eight integrative places can be allocated. The municipal learning rooms are aimed at children and families in difficult life situations and support them in an appreciative, supportive and intensive collaboration. The focus is on improving the children's future prospects together.
The children and young people at the facility are divided into two groups according to their individual stage of development and age. The younger group includes children aged 10 to around 13. The adolescents in the older group are aged 12 to 18. Despite the official groups, we work in a partially open concept. This means that the groups mix in everyday life, e.g. during leisure activities, sports activities etc.
The Jugendlernstube am Anger 32 is located in the Anger district and is easily accessible by public transport. It is part of a residential complex. The premises of the Lernstube are located on the 1st floor, below the municipal open youth social work. Our children attend various schools in Erlangen. These include elementary school, special and middle schools, secondary schools, grammar schools and the business school in many districts of Erlangen.
The facility works closely with the primary school nurseries, after-school care centers, the elementary school's student nest and the open youth social work in the Anger district. Many of the children and young people enrolled live in the Anger district, but also in Bruck, Röthelheim, Büchenbach and the city center.
The educators use the social group work method in their day-to-day work, which focuses on a (partially) open concept. Since the 2024/25 school year, flexible opening hours (until 6 p.m.) have also been offered on three days of the week, allowing young people to adjust their home time on other days.
The Jugendlernstube Am Anger has been offering special sports activities for many years. For this purpose, at least one planned sports program is carried out weekly by trained specialist staff. In 2024/25, there will be sports activities in the areas of ball sports (soccer), bouldering, table tennis, fair wrestling and swimming. Other activities are developed based on the needs and interests of the children and young people.
Close cooperation with the parents, grandparents and guardians of the children in our care is also at the heart of our educational work. To this end, a parents' cafe (17:00-20:00) and events such as New Year's celebrations and summer parties are held several times a year. As part of parent education, specific topics (e.g. communication during puberty; media consumption and the effects on child development) can be "discussed" by external or internal specialists. Evening VHS courses can also be attended with and through us.
The focus of our educational work for the 2024/25 school year is based on the needs and interests of the children and young people (survey October 2024) and the educational mandate. This results in projects in the areas of everyday life and media skills as well as exercise and nutrition.
Access to the youth learning room is through the inner courtyard, which is particularly inviting for group activities in the warmer months. In the outdoor area, there are also various seating options for individual and small group discussions.
Access to the youth learning room is located at the end of the building complex. Children, young people and adults can register via the bell (on the house wall) and are admitted to the house by arrangement via a hands-free system. Strangers are not permitted in the courtyard or the facility.
The premises for open youth social work are located on the first floor of the building complex. The children and young people in the facility have the opportunity to use the services of the OJSA after the end of the learning room.
The youth learning room is located on the second floor of the building, which can be reached via a foyer and the staircase.
Each group in the children's and youth facility has a group room with an educational kitchen and two other rooms that can be used for multiple purposes. The group rooms are separated by a glass door in the corridor. The exercise room and the "chiller room" are accessible to all children and young people. The corridor is equipped with a seating area and a pull-up bar, as this is a popular place for the adolescents to spend time. Other rooms include a canteen kitchen, an office and gender-specific sanitary facilities as well as a staff toilet.
The Integrative Jugendlernstube Am Anger is a preventative service provided by the Erlangen City Youth Welfare Office, which accompanies children and young people on their path to adulthood.
In addition to our legal mandates from SGB VIII and BayKiBig, our pedagogical orientation is based on the Bavarian Educational Guidelines (BayBL), the Bavarian Education and Training Plan (BayBEP) and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Within this framework, our educational concept is based on the following focal points:
- Individual development and educational support in the course of the needs- and situation-oriented approach
- Individual design of educational processes through the systemic consideration and inclusion of the living environment of children/young people
- Learning through mutual exchange and negotiation in the group(co-construction). Preparation for social diversity in the sense of equal opportunities. The facility stands for a protected learning and experience space.
- Pedagogical action based on the principles of appreciation, empathy, tolerance, transparency and openness.
- Developmental support for children and young people with a focus on their respective resources. The focus is on giving young people a say in their personal development. The basis for this is a reliable and sustainable relationship with the adolescents.
- Support and guidance for guardians as part of the educational partnership
- Multi-professional cooperation with relevant system partners
