Neustädter Kirchenplatz invites you to linger again
Stand: 07.07.2025
Our city, our chairs - to talk to each other, take a break, reflect, brainstorm together or simply sit and enjoy. Anyone looking for a rest will find more opportunities to linger in one of the most beautiful places in our city center.
With the arrival of spring, the red-brown chairs on Neustadt's church square are back. Just in time for the first sunny days, the seating is once again available to all residents until the fall. The 32 mobile seats give the square even more character. Anyone looking for a rest will find more opportunities to linger in one of the most beautiful places in our city center: To talk to each other, take a break, reflect, brainstorm together or simply sit and enjoy.
The rules for the furniture, which is available to all Erlangen residents and our guests, are simple:
Firstly, all chairs have their place - on Neustädter Kirchenplatz, and only there. Please don't carry them away, don't put them in the way, don't turn them around... just use the chair to sit on.
Secondly: We are the city. And the chairs are there for everyone. Together, we are all responsible for ensuring that the chairs can be used by everyone. If everyone takes care of them and pays attention, the chairs on Neustädter Kirchplatz will have a future. Then a pilot project will become a showcase project. That is our goal.
The pilot project was created in 2022 as part of WerkRaum Erlangen to revitalize the city centre .

WerkRaum Erlangen project: Thinking differently about the city center
WerkRaum Erlangen was launched in summer 2021 as a dialog process to revitalize the city centre. We have already implemented some creative ideas. Visitors and residents can look forward to them.
