Extensive road construction measures after the Bergkirchweih

Stand: 27.05.2026

The east-west axis is affected: Dechsendorfer Damm, Münchener Straße and Pfarrstraße. The work will take place between June 2 and probably September 14.

The city of Erlangen and Erlanger Stadtwerke are using the summer months for several important infrastructure measures: In addition to the comprehensive renovation of the Dechsendorfer Dam, work will also be carried out on the water network in Münchener Straße and a roadway renovation in Pfarrstraße. The aim is to bundle the necessary construction measures and ensure the long-term efficiency of the traffic and supply infrastructure.

The Dechsendorfer Damm (photo: Press Office fb) will be extensively renovated immediately after the Bergkirchweih. The aim of the measure is to preserve the structure in the long term and prevent major damage to the structure. To this end, the waterproofing of the structure and the road surface will be completely renewed. Due to the technical requirements and the limited space available, it is necessary to close the Dechsendorfer Dam to all types of traffic. This is the only way to ensure that the work can be carried out safely and within the planned time frame. A full closure is required for the work from June 2 to probably September 14.

The Dechsendorfer Damm was built in 1990. In recent years, increasing damage to the road surface and the underlying structural waterproofing has been identified. The core of the renovation is therefore the complete renewal of the waterproofing and the road surface. This involves removing the existing asphalt and replacing it with a new pavement structure with new sealing and protective layers.

In addition, wearing parts of the transition structures will be replaced, existing cracks will be professionally sealed and localized concrete damage will be repaired. Damaged drainage pipes will be inspected and repaired if necessary. All of the work will serve to ensure the durability of the structure and prevent future damage at an early stage. Once the work has been completed, the current speed restriction can be lifted.

Pfarrstraße measure

In order to keep additional restrictions on the important east-west axis to a minimum, further measures will be carried out at coordinated times. In Pfarrstraße (photo: civil engineering office), work by Erlanger Stadtwerke (ESTW) on the supply network is expected to begin on June 2. In addition to the expansion of the fiber optic network, early renovations to the electricity network will also be carried out in this area. The section between Nördliche Stadtmauerstraße and Martin-Luther-Platz is affected. This will be followed by the renewal of the road surface from July 6 to probably July 31.

Münchener Straße measure

Also in the period from June 2 to September 14, ESTW will be renewing the water pipe in Münchener Straße between the Gerbereitunnel and Fuchsengarten in sections. In this area, both the old existing pipeline will be replaced and the security of supply created with a continuous connection of the water supply between Fuchsengarten and Gerbereitunnel.

With this measure, Erlanger Stadtwerke is also taking an important forward-looking step for the supply of the planned Regnitzstadt. The construction work is being carried out in sections so that access to the Sportland, for example, and access from the south remains guaranteed. Access to the Altstädter cemetery will also remain possible from the Fuchsengarten.

During the closure of the Dechsendorfer Damm, traffic from and to the west will be diverted via the efficient axis along the Europakanal, the Büchenbacher Damm and the A73 federal highway.
