Video: Introduction of the 2027 Budget

With the introduction of the 2027 draft budget on September 24, budget deliberations began in the City Council. At the same time, a package of comprehensive consolidation measures through 2030 is being discussed. The financial situation remains strained: rising social security and personnel costs, high construction costs, and persistently large budget deficits are weighing on the city’s budget.

The government of Middle Franconia, as the supervisory authority, has required the city to save an additional 29 million euros in day-to-day administrative operations by 2029, on top of the consolidation measures already approved. The specific measures will now be discussed in the specialized committees and then put to a vote on January 21, along with the 2027 budget.
