Walking to School

Stand: 10.09.2026

A map showing the route to school provides useful information.

Dear Parents of Elementary School Students,

Walking to school

  • wakes you up in the morning,
  • keeps you fit and healthy,
  • gives you time to make friends,
  • teaches safe behavior on the road,
  • improves concentration in class, and
  • is good for the climate!

To give you an overview of the recommended route to school in advance and to help you practice it with your child, the School Administration Office, in collaboration with the ACE and the Youth Traffic School of the Erlangen-Stadt Police Department, has created a school route map for every elementary school. The recommended routes to school and street crossings are marked on these maps.

The maps also include information on pickup and drop-off zones, if these have already been established at the school. You can obtain the school route map from your elementary school or in digital form from the School Administration Office.

You can find information on the pick-up and drop-off zones here: Pick-up and Drop-off Zones
