Climate awakening

A wide range of measures are required to achieve climate neutrality in the city. In 2022, the Erlangen Citizens' Council, together with climate-relevant representatives from business, science, administration and initiatives, developed the "Climate Awakening Roadmap" catalog of measures. As many Erlangen residents as possible should sign up to the 41 measures adopted so that the necessary impact can be achieved. In the "City Contract Climate", all committed citizens and organizations can join Climate Awakening by making their own climate protection contributions (www.erlangen.de/mein-beitrag). The entire catalog of measures forms the basis of the city's actions. The administration and municipal subsidiaries are called upon to concretize and implement the measures on an ongoing basis.

Budget funds are currently used primarily for

• Installation of photovoltaic systems on municipal buildings

• Refurbishment and replacement of fossil fuel heating systems in municipal buildings

• Strengthening the environmental network (public transport, cycling and walking)

• Communal heat planning

• Green spaces

• Free and independent energy advice for all citizens in the small town hall, on site or in the climate mobile (from fall)

• Participation in the Climate Awakening Roadmap as part of the Climate City Contract

• Participation of companies, science, organizations and initiatives as part of the "Climate Neutral Erlangen Alliance"

• Regular information events on Climate Awakening
