The management, care and maintenance of municipal green spaces is therefore an important task of the municipalities. Building yards, municipal nurseries, road maintenance departments and private companies are indispensable service providers in this respect; they make an important contribution to enriching the appearance of the town and landscape, preserving biodiversity and improving the quality of life.

Tree radar of the city of Erlangen
The tree radar gives you the opportunity to report potential tree locations to the city administration. These are sent to the City Green Department and checked for feasibility. The City of Erlangen's tree radar can be accessed across all platforms using any standard browser. You can search for your desired location on the existing map basis using the usual tools (ZoomIn, ZoomOut, Pan) and place a tree. The information sent passes through the relevant authorities. Once it has been checked, the result is displayed on the digital map in traffic light colors. Red means that planting is rejected. Green means that planting will be carried out.
Playgrounds and leisure facilities
The Playground Office works closely with the City Green Department to design and equip the more than 120 public playgrounds, trend sports and leisure facilities.
In addition to the construction of new playgrounds, older play and leisure areas are also renovated and redesigned within the scope of available resources. When carrying out major renovations and designing new play areas, we attach great importance to taking into account the wishes and suggestions of future users (public participation). In most cases, the wishes and suggestions of children and their parents, young people and local residents are first collected at information events. If there is interest, there is also the opportunity to participate in the further development of the ideas through to implementation as part of planning groups.
