School District Office; Information on Matters Related to Legal Administration

The school board is jointly headed by the district administrator or the mayor (= legal head) and a school inspector for elementary and middle schools (= technical head). The responsibilities of the district administrator and the mayor include matters that are primarily of a legal nature.

Matters of a predominantly legal nature are all matters whose primary purpose in their resolution is the establishment or determination of legal relationships; these include, in particular, appeals proceedings, administrative enforcement and administrative offense proceedings, and the enforcement of safety and health regulations (e.g., objection proceedings, matters of disciplinary law, and the punishment of administrative offenses, e.g., by imposing a fine for violation of compulsory schooling requirements).
