Upon request, the registration office where you are registered as residing at an address will issue you a written or electronic certificate of registration.
The registration certificate always includes your last name, first name (with your commonly used first name indicated), doctoral degree, date of birth, and current addresses, distinguished between your primary and secondary residences.
Upon request, the registration certificate may include additional information:
- previous names,
- religious name,
- stage name,
- place of birth, and, if born abroad, the country,
- gender,
- information on the legal guardian,
- current nationalities,
- legal affiliation with a religious community under public law,
- previous address(es) within the jurisdiction of the registration authority, as well as the address of the last sole residence or primary residence and the last secondary residences outside the jurisdiction of the registration authority, distinguished by primary and secondary residence, in the case of moving in from abroad, also the country and the last address in Germany; in the case of moving abroad, also the address of the new residence abroad and the country,
- Date of moving in and moving out, date of the last move out of a residence within the country, and date of the last move in from abroad,
- Marital status; for married individuals or civil partners, additionally the date and place of marriage or the establishment of the civil partnership, and if the marriage or civil partnership was established abroad, also the country,
- Information about the spouse or domestic partner,
- Information regarding minor children,
- Information regarding the national ID card, a recognized passport or passport substitute, and/or the eID card, as well as
- the fact that a date of death has not been recorded.
Data regarding restrictions on access and disclosure must not be included in a registration certificate.
In addition to the registration certificate, the official confirmation of registration also serves as proof of residence. This is issued automatically when you register or deregister. It contains only information regarding your last name and first name, doctoral degree (if applicable), date of birth, address, the date you moved in or out, and the date of registration or deregistration. The registration confirmation also notes whether the residence is your sole residence, primary residence, or secondary residence. Unlike the registration certificate, you cannot apply for an official registration confirmation.

Reporting system
You can carry out registration matters digitally at the Citizens' Service or on site on the first floor of the town hall. For example, you can apply for a certificate of good conduct, official certification or information from the population register.
