Online Procedures
Register, deregister, or change the registration of a business online
With this online form, you can easily apply online to register, deregister, or change the details of your business.
To do so, please log in to your BayernID account with your username and password (4th option) or create a new account. Authentication via online ID card, EU ID, or ELSTER certificate is not required.
Citizen-friendly and digital: Simply fill out this online application directly in your web browser. In many cases, this saves you a trip to the government office.
You may need to re-register your business if you
- relocate your business’s headquarters within the municipality;
- change the nature of your business;
- change your name or, in the case of legal entities (e.g., GmbH, UG), the name of the company; or
- expand the scope of your business to include goods or services that are not customary for businesses of the registered type.
Although certain businesses do not require a license, they are subject to special regulatory oversight (businesses requiring oversight pursuant to § 38 GewO). The following business sectors are affected:
- Purchase and sale by businesses specializing in the trade of used goods;
- Provision of information regarding financial circumstances and personal matters;
- Arranging marriages, partnerships, and introductions;
- Operation of travel agencies and arrangement of accommodations;
- The sale and installation of building security systems, including locksmith services; and
- Manufacturing and distribution of specialized theft-related lock-picking tools.

Legal age or approval by the guardianship court
The business registration can be submitted in writing using the provided form to the municipality where the business is conducted, or to the relevant Chamber of Industry and Commerce or Chamber of Crafts. If a competent authority offers an online procedure, the business registration change can be submitted electronically through that system.
The business registration update also notifies other agencies (e.g., the tax office, the Chamber of Crafts, or the Chamber of Industry and Commerce).
The notification must be filed when the business is relocated or the nature of the business changes.
When re-registering a business that requires supervision, the business owner’s reliability is verified immediately. The applicant is therefore required to provide proof of reliability.
