Online Procedures
Apply for a European Firearms Pass
You can use this online application to apply for a European Firearms Pass.
Convenient and digital: Simply fill out this online application directly in your web browser. In many cases, this saves you a trip to the government office.
The European Firearms Pass allows holders of firearms licenses to temporarily transport firearms and ammunition when visiting another EU member state or Schengen country. It permits only the short-term, cross-border transport of your firearms for a purpose covered by your firearms license (e.g., a hunting trip or participation in a shooting sports event).
The European Firearms Pass is valid for 5 years and can be renewed twice, each time for 5 years.
Only firearms for which you hold a valid permit to acquire and possess (firearms ownership card) may be listed in your European Firearms Pass. A maximum of 10 firearms may be listed in the European Firearms Pass.
You may carry the corresponding ammunition for the registered firearms, but only as much as you are likely to need. Experience shows that hunters typically require less ammunition than sport shooters.
Not every firearm listed in the European Firearms Pass may automatically be taken abroad. You must comply with the applicable firearms regulations of the host country and all countries you will be transiting through. The necessary permits from the countries you plan to visit must be obtained in advance. Therefore, please thoroughly research the applicable firearms regulations in each country before your trip.
When traveling, you must carry, in addition to the European Firearms Pass, a valid identification document as well as the firearms ownership card on which the firearms are registered. It is also advisable to carry an invitation from the hunting club, a hunting license for the country, or confirmation of registration for a shooting competition.
The European Firearms Pass is not an import document and does not authorize you to permanently export firearms or ammunition abroad. You will need other permits for this purpose.
