International student exchange; information on funding
The student exchange is intended to strengthen international cooperation and communication in the school sector and to promote the foreign language, intercultural and social skills of the students.

Informationen
International school exchanges can be financially supported as part of a school partnership:
- Reimbursement of travel expenses for state teachers
- If applicable, funding from the Bavarian Youth Ring (depending on the destination country and type of measure)
- If applicable, funding from the Bavarian Youth Exchange Foundation
- If applicable, funding from the EU education program Erasmus+
- Funding from the youth organizations, if applicable
- Districts and municipalities can grant a subsidy for visits by pupils as part of school partnerships. Information on the funding guidelines and the application form can be obtained from your local authority.

The exchange of pupils from Erlangen schools with pupils from the following partner cities
Eskilstuna (Sweden), Rennes (France), Stoke-on-Trent (Great Britain), Vladimir (Russia), Besiktas (Turkey), Riverside (USA), Bolzano (Italy), San Carlos (Nicaragua), and Shenzhen (China)
is funded in accordance with the guidelines of the City of Erlangen for the promotion of international student exchanges with Erlangen's twin cities.
Funding is granted for the stay of the Erlangen students in the partner cities and also for the return visit of the students from the partner cities to Erlangen. The amount varies and can be seen in the guidelines published below. In the case of the events in Erlangen, the funding covers
Erlangen and for the events in the partner cities to the travel costs of the Erlangen students. The on-site program must last at least five days.

The student exchange must be applied for using an application form at least 6 weeks before the start of the event. The application must be accompanied by the following attachments: the concept, the number of pupils and the program with explanations. The school will then receive a provisional approval letter stating the amount it can expect to receive if the event is carried out as requested.
The "Proof of use" form must be submitted no later than 8 weeks after the end of the event. The original list of participants with the signatures of the students, the tabular program and a field report must be attached to the proof of use. The travel expenses and the invitation or confirmation from the schools in the partner city must also be enclosed.
After checking the proof of use, the school administration office issues a final approval notice and pays the funding to the school's account.

All state, state-recognized, state-approved and municipal schools in Erlangen are eligible to apply. There is no legal entitlement to funding. Funding can only be provided within the framework of the funds available in the budget of the City of Erlangen.
