Local and district advisory councils

The advisory boards elect their chairpersons and up to two deputies from among their members by a simple majority of the votes cast. In the event of a tie, the decision is made by drawing lots.

The members of the city council are appointed by the city council according to the proposals of the political groups and groups that form it. The distribution of seats is based on the election results of the political groups and groups in the previous city council election in the respective local or district.

In accordance with the statutes of the City of Erlangen on local and district advisory boards, the district advisory boards consist of 9 members. The members must have their habitual residence in the respective district.

According to the statutes of the City of Erlangen on local and district advisory councils, local advisory councils consist of 5 members in districts with up to 1,000 inhabitants and 7 members in districts with more than 1,000 inhabitants. The members must have their habitual residence in the respective district.

In accordance with a unanimous city council resolution of 27.07.2016, the introduction of the district advisory councils was decided. The constituent meetings of the district advisory councils were held until 2017.

The rural community of Kosbach with the districts of Kosbach, Häusling and Steudach was incorporated into the city of Erlangen on January 1, 1967 with 461 inhabitants and a municipal area of 583 hectares.

The agreements on the formation of local councils were of particular importance. On July 1, 1972, the city issued a statute in which the local advisory councils were granted the right to make recommendations and submit proposals on all important matters relating to their district.
and to submit motions. The first constituent meetings of the newly appointed local advisory councils took place in 1973.

The term of office is based on the local elections and is six years. There is no limit to how often you can be a member of the advisory board. In some cases, advisory boards have been represented on the committee for more than 30 years.

The advisory boards meet at least three times a year in public meetings. If necessary, they can also convene more than three meetings.
