International Women's Day
Stand: 23.02.2026
March 8 is International Women's Day...
... and it is being celebrated for the 115th time this year!
The day stands for a long history of political engagement, activism, protest, but also social change and solidarity. It is a reminder that many rights that are taken for granted today were fought for hard by women, queer people and allies. At the same time, it is clear that equality has still not been achieved.
On International Women's Day, we want to create space for exchange, critical debate and new perspectives. This day invites us to question existing conditions and work together towards a fairer, diverse and democratic society.
For this reason, Erlangen initiatives, institutions and the Equal Opportunities Office of the City of Erlangen organize a varied programme every year during Women's Month in March. On the following page and in the calendar of events you will find all the events and activities that inform, move and invite you to join in. It may take a moment to load the dates. Please be patient and refresh your page if necessary.
Come along, get involved, be inspired by other great women* and experts* and take away concrete ideas for more equality for your everyday life.
Do you have a disability or other restriction and need support to take part in an event? No problem. Get in touch with us as soon as possible: gleichstellungsstelle@stadt.erlangen.de
