Bismarck Street

Stand: 13.07.2026

From late August through early November, the road surface on Bismarckstraße and Lorlebergplatz will be repaved.

The goal is to

  • improve traffic safety and
  • maintain the road network in a sustainable and cost-effective manner.

At the same time, the city is taking this opportunity to implement further improvements.

More Green Spaces

As part of the construction project, approximately 210 square meters of asphalt will be removed along Bismarckstraße. Eleven new trees will be planted in the resulting green spaces. This will improve the urban climate and help adapt the street to hotter seasons.

Improvements for Delivery Traffic and Pedestrians

Three new zones will be created for delivery and loading traffic to facilitate supply in the neighborhood. Safety for pedestrians will be enhanced by two new crosswalk islands north and south of Lorlebergplatz.

At the Marquardsenstraße intersection, an area will also be marked on the roadway where pedestrians can wait safely while crossing. In addition, 97 bicycle parking spaces will be created, including five specifically for cargo bikes.

Changes at Lorlebergplatz

Parking spaces are also being reorganized in the roundabout at Lorlebergplatz. There,

  • two accessible charging stations for electric vehicles and
  • two parking spaces for car-sharing vehicles.

The accessible parking spaces will be designed in accordance with current regulations.

Overall, the number of parking spaces on Bismarckstraße and at Lorlebergplatz will be reduced to make way for these improvements. Flexibility for outdoor dining areas within the parking zones will be maintained. The city will provide information well in advance of the start of construction regarding potential traffic disruptions.
