CO2-Challenge of the metropolitan region

No more sweets or alcohol from Ash Wednesday? There is an alternative to Lent: those who take part in the CO2 Challenge in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region contribute to climate protection every day. At the end of the competition, which was recently awarded the Bavarian Climate Protection Prize, there are great prizes for the particularly eager participants (Photo: Christoph Plass).

How does the challenge work?

From Ash Wednesday onwards, the CO2 Challenge website and the social media channels of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region will be calling for a daily climate fast. A new, varied task awaits every day. Within two weeks, the aim is to save as much CO2 as possible in a fun way and collect points in the process. To calculate the points, there is a corresponding CO2 challenge app at www.co2challenge.net. Families or groups of friends can compete with each other.

What is the aim of the competition?

To get people in the region and beyond excited about climate protection. As every year, there are also attractive prizes to be won this time. They will be raffled off via the social media channels of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. If you want to be in the draw, you should visit the metropolitan region's Instagram and Facebook pages.

What is the CO2 School Challenge?

The CO2 School Challenge was developed especially for school classes, children and youth groups. It motivates pupils of all grades to actively integrate climate protection into everyday school life. Two different sets of materials offer a simple and entertaining way to incorporate climate protection into lessons. The material can also be used beyond Lent. As a special incentive to take part in the CO2 school challenge, there is a competition for the school challenge. Classes and groups can still take part until April 11.
