Ramps for wheelchairs or baby carriages must be kept clear

The Highway Code does not prohibit the parking of bicycles. However, special use of public areas is not permitted if bicycles are parked in such a way that they obstruct traffic. Example: parking on ramps that must be kept clear for wheelchairs or baby carriages. For this reason, the ramps on both sides of the station building and the fire department access routes are checked once a week. In such cases, employees of the municipal company "Erlanger Jobcenter" regularly remove the bicycles on behalf of the regulatory authority.

Scrap bikes are removed

The public order authority carries out regular checks throughout the city and in particular at the bicycle parking facilities at the train station to identify abandoned bicycles and scrap bicycles. Abandoned bicycles are initially marked with a band and collected after four weeks at the earliest. The collection is carried out by employees of the "Erlangen Job Center" on behalf of the public order authority. Scrap bicycles are forwarded to the municipal greenery, waste management and street cleaning company for removal.

The recovered bicycles are currently stored for three months. During this time, owners can collect their bikes - although this rarely happens. At the end of this period, the bicycles are disposed of by the Jobcenter.
