Erlangen remains one of the safest large cities

Even though Fürth is again just ahead of Erlangen in the current comparison, the development of the figures shows one thing above all: security in Erlangen continues to improve.

Number of crimes on the decline

In 2025, a total of 5,058 crimes were registered. Compared to the previous year (5,288), the number has therefore fallen again. This decline confirms the positive trend of recent years.

Thanks to the blue light family

Lord Mayor Florian Janik puts the latest figures into perspective: "Of course, we would have liked to take first place as the safest city in Bavaria again in 2025 - but this time Fürth has narrowly overtaken us. However, something else is more important to me: there is less crime in both cities than in the previous year. That shows that our city is becoming even safer - and that's the really good news. The fact that Erlangen continues to be one of the safest large cities is above all thanks to many committed people. My heartfelt thanks go to the police, the entire blue light family and the volunteer security guards, who work hard every day to ensure safety. Safety is the basis for people feeling comfortable and enjoying living here. A safe and good environment for all people therefore remains one of my key concerns."
