Money for all-day schools and lunchtime supervision
Stand: 26.05.2025
The city is providing almost 1.4 million euros in funding.
The city of Erlangen supports the establishment of open all-day schools as part of its goals as a family-friendly city. It will contribute to the funding of open all-day school programs at several schools in the coming school year with a municipal co-financing share of around 470,000 euros. This will support 61 groups in the 2025/2026 school year (2024/2025: 54). This was decided by the city council's education committee on May 15. In addition to open all-day schooling, there will also be extensive funding for tied all-day schooling. A municipal co-financing share of around 613,000 euros is allocated to 79 classes.
Budget consolidation: reduction in subsidies
Furthermore, the city bears the material costs incurred for all-day operations at the state and municipal schools where all-day offers will be set up in the next school year. In addition, the city of Erlangen subsidizes the existing lunchtime supervision at eleven state elementary school as part of voluntary subsidies. The budget consolidation is associated with far-reaching savings in all areas, which have a particular impact on voluntary subsidies. From the 2025/2026 school year, a ten percent reduction in subsidies for lunchtime supervision is also planned. This will therefore amount to around 314,000 euros.
From the 2025/2026 school year, Friedrich-Rückert-Grundschule will no longer provide lunchtime supervision, as open all-day supervision will be introduced at the school. The total number of groups is expected to decrease by three groups from 61 to 58 compared to the current school year.
