Municipal Inclusive Elementary School, Hertleinstr. 59a

The inclusive elementary school learning center is located at Am Anger, 59a Hertleinstraße, and is part of the family support center based in this neighborhood. It serves children from the Pestalozzi School (district school) as well as from the Otfried Preußler School on Liegnitzerstraße.

The division into two core groups of ten children each is implemented almost exclusively within the weekly schedule, as the layout of the space makes any other arrangement impossible.

This means that on Monday, each group holds a circle time to plan the week: For Tuesday and Thursday, the children come up with guided small-group activities for up to five participants. Participation in these activities once a week is mandatory. On these two days, the remaining children spend the time after finishing their homework engaging in free play that includes children from all groups. On Wednesdays, a group-internal cooking activity takes place on a weekly rotating basis. On Fridays, larger games or events are organized on a weekly rotating basis by one group for the other.

Lunch and homework time are spent exclusively within the home groups.

The elementary school building features an entrance area with a stage, two large group rooms organized by core groups (one of which has an integrated open kitchen), an activity room, a workshop with storage, a homework room, an office, a library with office space, and two coat check areas.

In accordance with Section 1 of the KJHG, our guiding principle is “To nurture children into responsible individuals capable of contributing to society!”

The focus is on your child and his or her development, education, and care, taking into account his or her life context in order to meet the child where he or she is.

Accordingly, our focus is on further developing and strengthening the following:

• personal competencies
• skills for functioning in a social context
• learning skills
• the ability to cope effectively with change and stress
• Daily routines and practical life skills
• Partnership with Parents in Education and Upbringing

During the school year, the facility is open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; during school breaks, it is open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Drop-off and pick-up times and rules:
Children come to the study center right after school.
Pick-up and dismissal time is between 4:45 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
During school breaks, drop-off time is at 9:00 a.m., and pickup time is at 3:00 p.m.

Closure dates:
The center is typically closed for 26–30 days. Parents are notified of the closure dates at the beginning of the school year. Regularly recurring closure dates occur during the Christmas break, the first week of the Pentecost break, and weeks 2 through 5 of the summer break.
