Schulstraße in Erlangen

Stand: 22.09.2025

A school street is being introduced as a pilot project in Liegnitzer Strasse to make the route to school safer.

Liegnitzer Straße is now a school street

The district advisory council and the schools have repeatedly reported safety problems caused by too many "parent cabs" on Liegnitzer Strasse. Liegnitzer Straße between Marienbader Straße and Erwin-Rommel-Straße will therefore become a "school street" to make it safer for our children to get to school.

Fewer cars, more safety!

Help your child to walk to school every day! If there is no other way: use the pick-up and drop-off zone at Theodor-Heuss-Anlage. Your children can get in and out safely here.

What does this mean in concrete terms?

The Liegnitzer Straße section of road (between Marienbader Straße and Erwin-Rommel-Straße) may in future be used

  • in the morning from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.
  • at lunchtime from 12:15 to 13:15 and
  • in the afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

during school start and end times. Residents of the street section are exempt from this.

Pick-up and drop-off zones at Erlangen elementary school

The aim of the pick-up and drop-off zones, which are gradually being introduced at Erlangen schools, is to prevent stopping and parking directly in front of the school and thus increase road safety.
