Call for Donations: Recreational Camp for Children from Brovary
Stand: 19.06.2026
Between 15 and 20 children from Erlangen’s Ukrainian sister city are to be given the opportunity to spend a week in Erlangen. The hope is that this will help them forget the horrors of war, at least for a little while.
Children, in particular, are suffering from the war in Ukraine and are experiencing violence and destruction on a daily basis. Their daily lives are marked by air raid sirens, waiting it out in bomb shelters, sleepless nights, and constant fear. Some have lost a parent or relative in the war. Therefore, at the renewed request of Igor Sapozhko, the mayor of Erlangen’s Ukrainian sister city Brovary, the city of Erlangen is once again organizing a recreational retreat for children from Brovary at the end of August.
Between 15 and 20 children will be given the opportunity to spend a week in Erlangen to help them forget the horrors of war, at least for a little while. The children are especially looking forward to a carefree time at the outdoor pool and getting to know their German sister city. Here, in safety, far away from explosions and airstrikes, the Ukrainian children can take a brief respite from the war, recharge their batteries, and enjoy the peace and beauty of nature in Germany.
