City leaders in Jena and Cumiana confirmed in office

At the same time as the elections to the European Parliament last Sunday, mayoral elections were held in the Thuringian twin city of Jena and the Italian friendship city of Cumiana.

Both incumbents were re-elected:

In Jena

Mayor Thomas Nitzsche, who has been in power since 2018, won the run-off election against the Green Party candidate Kathleen Lützkendorf with 63.1 percent.

In Cumiana

Roberto Costelli was re-elected with 51.3% of the vote. He prevailed against two opposing candidates.

Congratulations from Erlangen

Mayor Florian Janik congratulated his old and new colleagues in an official letter. He was pleased about the continuity in the further work of the town twinning.
