Social Welfare Office - Assistance for Living and Basic Security in Old Age (SGB XII) for Refugees from Ukraine
Stand: 06.02.2023
A new legal regulation provides that older persons who have fled from Ukraine will have a claim to assistance for subsistence or basic security in old age under certain conditions from 01.06.2022, instead of a claim to benefits under the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act.
The Social Welfare Office of the City of Erlangen will make the transition to the new benefit area seamless and uncomplicated for you. For this purpose, information letters have already been sent to all persons who have already received benefits under the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act. If you have not yet received a cover letter and receive benefits under the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act, this will still be done by mid-June 2022 at the latest.
Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to grant the corresponding benefit to all persons who have a claim to benefits under SGB XII in time for 01.06.2022. However, they will continue to receive benefits under the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act as before. Insofar as the social assistance is higher, you will receive an additional payment later.
There is a transition period until 31.08.2022, so that by then all persons who are eligible can be switched to the new benefit. Please give us until then; we will handle the transition reliably and without loss for you.
