Social welfare office - Assistance with living expenses and basic security in old age (SGB XII) for refugees from Ukraine

A new legal regulation stipulates that older people who have fled from Ukraine will be entitled to assistance with living expenses or basic security in old age from June 1, 2022 under certain conditions instead of being entitled to benefits under the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act.

The Social Welfare Office of the City of Erlangen will make the transition to the new benefits area seamless and uncomplicated for you. To this end, information letters have already been sent to all persons who have already received benefits under the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act. If you have not yet received a letter and are receiving benefits under the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act, this will be done by mid-June 2022 at the latest.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to grant the corresponding benefits to all persons who are entitled to benefits under SGB XII from 01.06.2022 in time for 01.06.2022. However, they will continue to receive benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act as before. If the social assistance is higher, you will receive an additional payment later.

There is a transitional period until 31.08.2022 so that all persons who are entitled can be switched to the new benefit by then. Please give us until then; we will handle the transition for you reliably and without any losses.
