Hop on for free! Ride the buses for free in downtown Erlangen. Get around downtown Erlangen quickly and conveniently without having to search for parking. Since January 1, 2024, all bus routes within Erlangen’s free downtown zone have been offering “free rides.”
Free downtown zone to end in late 2026
The free public transit zone in downtown Erlangen will be discontinued at the end of 2026. The three-year pilot project, which was intended to encourage people to switch to buses and trains, will not be incorporated into regular service. The city council made this decision on April 27, 2026.
